We were very pleased to find that our Raptors Among Us program on December 4 was almost sold out. Nearly 60 people joined us as the Raptor Conservancy of Virginia gave a tremendously entertaining program, highlighted by an up-close, live viewing and discussion of six of the area's raptors -- broad winged hawk, red-tailed hawk, red-shouldered hawk, kestrel, merlin and peregrine falcon. We also had stunning views of two mature bald eagles perched magnificently just south of the Jammes House, providing lengthy opportunities to watch them through the telescopes. It was a seven-raptor day! We also had good food and beverages to round out the day. Here are some of the pictures that Randy Streufert took at the event. Stay tuned to see what we do next year for our Swanfall celebration!
