Please Help the Friends Support Mason Neck State Park

Virginia's tight budget situation means that Mason Neck State Park and other parks have difficulty funding all of the improvements that would contribute to guests' experiences. We at the Friends are proud that thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have been able to spend nearly $150,000 on improvements at the park since 2015. Donations to the Friends have allowed us to fund projects as varied as resurfaced trails, improved access to the picnic area, a safe surface for the children's playground, habitats for the park's turtle and frogs in the Visitor Center, a station providing real-time weather information at the park, and more.

We have big plans for the future, but whether they become reality will depend on your generosity. Please help us support the conservation, enhancement, and interpretation of Mason Neck State Park's natural, educational, recreational, cultural, and historic resources by making a tax-deductible contribution today.

You can make a donation from your Traditional IRA:

If you are over 70-1/2 and receive Required Minimum Distributions from your Traditional IRA, you can make a donation directly to the Friends from the IRA using a Qualified Charitable Deduction (QCD). This can be a preferred way to make a contribution if you can't claim a Federal income tax donation for a charitable contribution because unlike Required Minimum Distributions to yourself, payments using a QCD are not taxable. If you don't have an IRA, you can transfer funds from your 401(k) account to an IRA and make the donation that way. Ask your IRA or 401(k) administrator or your tax advisor about making a QCD to the Friends.
