Mason Neck State Park is beautiful, but trash continually washes up on the shore from the Potomac and Occoquan Rivers. Help keep the park looking good by joining volunteering for a cleanup day. The Park will supply gloves, trash bags and a few "grabbers" and the Friends of Mason Neck State Park will supply water, coffee and little snacks. Be sure wear sturdy shoes or boots. It can get wet and muddy along the shore.
Depending on the weather, we may be able to use the Park's kayaks and canoes to pick up trash from areas that are not accessible by foot.
Parking is free for volunteers who are cleaning the shore; just tell the attendant at the Contact Station.
Registration is not required, but if you are bringing a group, it would be best to call the park at 703-339-2385 to let them know.
