Forest Communities and Associated Geology in Northern Virginia and Vicinity
The Friends of Mason Neck State Park are pleased to cosponsor a presentation from the Friends of Dyke Marsh on the geology and common forest communities in and around the nation's capital, including coastal bottomland communities and non-tidal wetlands, which collectively give rise to freshwater tidal wetlands such as Dyke Marsh and the Mason Neck Great Marsh. The event is free and open to the public - no need to register.
The speaker is Rod Simmons, Natural Resource Manager and Plant Ecologist with the Natural Resources Division, Alexandria's Dept of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.
The presentation will be at the Norma Hoffman Visitor Center (703-768-2525), which is at 3701 Lockheed Blvd., Alexandria, VA 22306. (If you use a GPS device, be sure to enter the street address, not the park's name.)
